Memory’s Ribbon

plot against your better judgement
stifled by a furrowed brow
in waking light and
violet shadow

prisms that have waited long enough
to know the morning’s name
slipping on a landslide
of memory’s ribbon

start it all over again inside
folded into something
that couldn’t be
saved

bend your eyes to meet the dream
abandon all senses and
be carried away by
the wave

keep on turning standing still
secrets stumble to the
beat of the wheel
they rest upon

there can only be so many ways
to say goodbye without
actually saying
goodbye
