Unexpected Denouement

Sinking toy ship
Middle of the sea
Burning
Like rum on a fire

No flight
From omen-yelling fowls
Desire do they obtain
Love
Suitably attired in
Leather boots
With broken hearts
Abandoned

This ship
Made of flesh
In a sea of
Unexpected denouement
O, how hearts sink
By darling schemes oppressed
And restless flames
Precipitate death

Spare one who is
Penitent
Going without
Golden this brave hand
Biding above brine
Ready to fall
In love
As fire his drink
With delight

Chasing the memory still
Hushed and
Blind
